There has been talk recently by the council of closing down this park rather than replacing/mending the equipment which would be a complete disaster if they did. It's a great park which also has nice new loos with baby changing facilities as well.

Located in and around the attractive and well-maintained castle grounds are a popular children's playground (although the playground is more suited to children over 4 i would say, there is only swings really suitable for very young ones - also on our visit the slides were filthy), there is a picnic area with plenty of benches and a large grass area adjacent to playground for kicking around a ball or just to relax, a putting green and a crazy golf course is also adjacent to the playground. There are also public toilets here. The castle grounds themselves are also a great place to explore for all ages. After visiting the castle you can then either go rockpooling or go and throw some stones in the sea on south beach or visit the harbour. A good way to spend the morning or afternoon
