Having walked past this cafe several times and seen the board outside and poster in the window touting the "great" children's area upstairs, we decided to give it a go.
Well, "great" would not be our adjective of choice, maybe "disappointing" would be more accurate.
The play area was basic and consisted of a table, couple of chairs, a few basic toys like some lego and a few bits of wooden railway. MG's do themselves a disservice by touting the play area as "great" as, unless it actually is, it's going to disappoint.
The upstairs area itself was very sparse and not at all welcoming. It was also very echo-y which made every noise our child made feel like it was disturbing all the other customers.
We were somewhat incredulous when we ordered our drinks as they didn't have any cups or glasses at all. All the drinks were served in disposable paper cups which just seems tremendously wasteful!
There is no waitress service, or menus on the table, which meant traipsing up and down the stairs with information about what was available and then to take the orders down.
The toilets were another disappointment, there are no customer toilets, you have to use the staff ones. Consequently there are no baby changing facilities of any kind.
All in all, a really poor effort. We're keen to support local businesses and will continue to use it as a take-away, but shan't return to the cafe.
