Husband asked me to get some more glue for his model at The Games Shop and when I opened the door and saw all the children's puzzles, wooden toys, LEGO, arts and crafts I was really surprised. The Games Shop was a model shop! Picked up some leaftlets on parties at the shop for our nephews and spoke to one member of staff who explained that new owners had taken it over a couple of years ago and made it more child and family friendly. There is even a train track for children to play with and one small child needed the toilet and was allowed to use the staffs. Good for them I say. Will pop in again for LEGO soon for a child's birthday.

This shop is run by my friends. Before they took over it was really aimed at adults witht the odd childrens toy thrown in. As well as toys for the youngest of child to the eldest (including the old fisher price toys from days gone by), they have lots of workshops and games clubs too. As well as Warhammer and Pokemon clubs, through the hols they have 'Stay, Play and Weigh'. Stay, play and Weigh is £3.50 in one of the upstairs rooms. Part of the flooor is covered in Lego and you can make what you like. If you want to take it home with you is costs 4pence per gram (so they can replace the Lego), there are crafts out (one of which involves foood like biscuit decorating), there is a large wooden train set and toys for younger children. Everyone is really friendly, there are clean toilets and drinks for the children and adults. This year they have also had dedicated Lego workshops for £7 run by a friend of the owners who is one of only 13 certified Lego builders in the country. This was well worth the money and they children came away with a Lego ball they had been taught to make. Also to note, on Tuesdays through the school terms, there is a free advice drop in centre for parents of children with special needs having problems within the education system. Its run by SOSSEN who specialise in helping parents through this mine field. The owners have a child with special needs so nothing phases them. One of the Lego workshops was dedicated to children with special needs and as a mum with a special needs child, this was a genuis idea.
Well worth a look, and you can hire the upstairs rooms (there are 3) for parties and meetings.

Just discovered The Games Shop in Aldershot (opposite costa coffee). I thought it was just a model shop but no, it sells wooden toys, LEGO, puzzles for all ages and crafts. It also has three floors above the shop and has a LEGO club, pokemon club and games workshop room.
Staff are really attentive and full of good humour. Very child friendly as the couple have children themselves. Really happy I have found somewhere that stocks quality wooden toys for my three year old daughter.
