Reviews and details of facilities:

Excellent local pub with well equipped child friendly garden (even animals!), good menu for children, lots of high chairs and toys/ games.
Helpful and cheerful staff and good quality food for mums and dads too. Baby change and also quiet corners for feeding.
Well worth a visit either when passing or as a destination.

While travelling through lovely Berkshire I passed through the village of Hermitage and decided to stop at The White Horse for a lunch break.

I decided to sit in the spacious beer garden and was surprised to discover that the White Horse is indeed a bit of a child's paradise. While the parents are enjoying their meals or drinks, the children can watch the chickens or pygmy goats in their enclosures, play football or use the bouncy castle or slide in the ample playground. For bad weather conditions the pub provides several board or card games, as I could see when I walked through the bar.

There is a special kid's menu with everything the little gourmets might enjoy.

If a "pit stop" is necessary for the youngsters, a nappy changing room is available in addition to the adults' toilets.

Neil and Kate, the proprietors of "The White Horse of Hermitage" seem to make every effort to please not only the adult but also their young guests, so I wasn't really amazed to see several mothers with their babies and prams in the bar, enjoying a drink, with Neil sitting next to them bottle-feeding one of the babies.

If I had children myself, I'd definitely enjoy a pub like that, giving children the chance to play and explore instead of sitting (relatively) peaceful with their parents.
